The Shimanto Unnayon Foundation (SUF) is a women-led and women-managed non-governmental organization (NGO) based in Kalaroa Upazila, Satkhira District, Bangladesh. Established in 2005 and officially registered in 2007, the foundation is committed to improving the livelihoods of disaster-prone and marginalized communities, particularly women, youth, and families affected by river erosion. SUF implements a range of skill development and socioeconomic empowerment programs that promote sustainable employment and self-reliance. Its vocational training includes tailoring, beautification, block and batik printing, and hand stitching and embroidery etc. while its digital literacy initiatives provide basic computer training to enhance employability and encourage youth entrepreneurship. The foundation also frequently collaborates with the National Skills Development Authority (NSDA) to deliver government-recognized, competency-based training programs and nationally accredited certification, ensuring that participants gain industry-relevant skills and improved access to employment and self-employment opportunities.
